With her trademark signature voice that interlaces silk with satin; Kinyanna births a style of music that is mellifluous to those who dare to listen. Born February 5, 1983, this Dallas Oak Cliff native discovered her unique voice at the tender age of 5 while singing with her grandmother. Her first major public performance came at the age of 15 when she sang “His Eyes Are on the Sparrow” in front of an audience of five thousand at the National Church of Christ Youth Conference in Atlanta Georgia. To this day Kinyanna says that, “singing in front of all those people and receiving a standing ovation afterwards was the most memorable event in my life.” It was at this time that Kinyanna decided to venture out and share with the world her special gift.

It wouldn’t be long before Imurj Records an independent record label based in Dallas, Texas would take notice of this “uncut diamond” and sign her to the label in April of 2006. Since then Kinyanna has performed at various events such as the Firehouse, Sultry Soul Night, the Wine Cellar, Sankofa Arts Kafe, and Brooklyn’s Jazz Café. But it doesn’t stop there; Kinyanna spends a great deal of time involved with community and has performed at various community events held at the Jubilee Park and Community Center and the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreational Center both in Dallas, Texas.

Kinyanna has just released her first single title Yanna’s Groove, a mid-tempo feel good song that is sure to find its way into your backyard barbeques or escorting you on your late night summer drives down the boulevard. One listen and you’re sure to be hooked.
